History

The Sandstoner Foundation was established in 2000 by several alumni, teachers, administrators, and friends of Potsdam Central School to provide scholarships and awards to graduating seniors at PCS who are continuing their education by attending college or entering the military. More than $260,000 has been awarded since 2001.

Principles

The Foundation assures these principles to donors:

  • Students must apply for scholarships and awards.
  • Students must attend college or enter the military after high school.
  • All donations—which are usually tax-deductable—go to students in the form of scholarships and awards.
  • Each donor will receive a thank you note from the awarded student.
  • Students who receive awards are encouraged to become future Sandstoner Foundation donors themselves.

Your assistance

College tuition is expensive! Many students deserve recognition for their hard work, and many seniors need financial assistance to make college a reality.

The Sandstoner Foundation has thirty named scholarships and awards, which were established by families and friends. Excellence in English and French, enjoyment of mathematics, love for animals and the outdoors, accomplishments in music, and desire to serve our country in the military are all qualifications—we have a variety of awards to match the diversity of each PCS graduating class.

The Foundation also offers several general awards, which are given when funding allows.
